Travel time
An employer does not need to pay employees for travel time when the employees use employer provided transportation to commute to and from the worksite and during which time the employees are not performing any work. Employers cannot require employees to take the transportation, but instead must offer it as a convenience to them that they opt not to take. IA Statute 91A.13

Show up or reporting time
Iowa law does not require employers to pay employees for reporting or showing up to work if no work is performed. An employer is also not required to pay an employee a minimum number of hours if the employer dismisses the employee from work prior to completing their scheduled shift. Employers are only required to pay employees for hours actually worked.
