September 29 – Ohio’s Department of Commerce announced the minimum wage increase for 2017

On September 29, 2016, Ohio’s Department of Commerce announced that the state’s minimum wage will increase to $8.15 beginning January 1, 2017. The minimum wage for tipped employees will increase to $4.08. Ohio’s minimum wage law requires that the Department of Commerce adjust the minimum wage each year equivalent to the percentage increase in the consumer price index for the prior year. The change must be announced by September 30 of each year.

The new minimum wage will take effect on January 1, 2017.
