April 2 – Gov. Bevin signed a law extending military leave and reemployment rights for National Guard members
On April 2, 2018, Governor Bevin signed House Bill 291. The new law clarifies that state military leave and reemployment rights for National Guard members are available to employees who are members of the National Guards of other states, not just Kentucky.
The new law becomes effective on July 13, 2018.

March 21 – Gov. Bevin signed a law establishing independent contractor requirements for marketplace contractors
On March 21, 2018, Governor Bevin signed House Bill 220. The law establishes the requirements for determining when a marketplace contractor is an independent contractor. A marketplace contractor is defined as “a person or entity that enters into an agreement with a marketplace platform to use its digital network or mobile application to receive connections to third party individuals or entities seeking services.”
