March 28 – Gov. Reynolds signed a law affecting employers’ written alcohol testing policies
On March 28, 2018, Governor Reynolds signed House File 2383. The new law requires employers to include in their written alcohol testing policies a standard for the minimum alcohol concentration needed to fail a test. The standard cannot be less than .02, expressed in terms of grams of alcohol per two hundred ten liters of breath, or its equivalent.
The new law becomes effective on July 1, 2018.
March 7 – Gov. Reynolds signed a law allowing employers to provide pay stubs electronically
On March 7, 2018, Governor Reynolds signed House File 2240. The new law allows employers to meet their obligation to provide a wage statement to employees each payday by:
- sending it to employees by mail
- providing it by secure electronic transmission
- providing a copy to employees at employees’ normal places of employment
- providing electronic access to view the statement that also allows employees’ to print it for free
The new law becomes effective on July 1, 2018.
