May 3 – Governor Deal signed a law establishing that franchisees and their employees cannot be found to be employees of franchisors

On May 3, 2016, Governor Deal signed a law establishing that franchisees and their employees cannot be found to be employees of franchisors, except in certain situations involving workers’ compensation claims.

The law goes into effect on July 1, 2016

April 2016

April 26 – Governor Deal signed a law extending the employment protections of National Guard members

On April 26, 2016, Governor Deal signed a law extending employment protections for National Guard members who are called into service to include members of National Guard members of states other than Georgia.

The law goes into effect July 1, 2016.
