October 15 – The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity announces that there will be no minimum wage increase in 2016

October 15, 2015, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity announced that there would be no increase in the state’s minimum wage in 2016. The Florida constitution requires that the minimum wage increase at the same rate as the consumer price index for urban wage earners and clerical workers in the south region. The Department of Economic Opportunity determined there was not a sufficient increase in the consumer price index to justify an increase in the minimum wage.
