June 1 – New pregnancy accommodation requirements for employers were passed into law

On June 1, 2016, Colorado enacted the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act that requires employers to provide reasonable accommodation to pregnant applicants and employees unless the employer can establish that the accommodation would impose an undue hardship. Employers are also required to give new hires and post a notice of their pregnancy accommodation rights.

The new law becomes effective on August 10, 2016.

For more information, read CO House Bill 16-1438 and CO Civil Rights Division – New Laws (with copies of required postings).
