Summary

Dispenses with the State’s requirement that children under a specified age have to obtain permission from the Division of Labor in order to be employed; restores decision-making to parents concerning their children; streamlines the hiring process for children under a specified age; provides that the division should not require that a child under a specified age verify proof of their age through an employment certificate as a condition of employment.

Family Leave Insurance

Senate Bill 111

Summary

Creates a new line of insurance, known as family leave insurance, to allow an insurer licensed to transact accident and health or life insurance business in the State to issue an insurance policy covering the risk of family leave; provides that family leave insurance may be written as an amendment or rider to a group disability income insurance policy or a separate group insurance policy purchased by an employer or included in a group disability income insurance policy.
