May 12 – Governor Ducey signed a law setting forth standard language employers can use when contracting with independent contractors

On May 12, 2016, Governor Ducey signed a law setting forth standard language employers can use when entering into a relationship with an independent contractor. If used, there will be a presumption that an independent contractor relationship exists.

The law goes into effect on August 6, 2016.

May 12 – Governor Ducey signed a law that sets forth the criteria to be used in determining whether an individual is a qualified marketplace contractor

On May 12, 2016, Governor Ducey signed a law that establishes the criteria to be used when determining if an individual is an employee or a qualified marketplace contractor. It also extends the same rules and limitations that apply to independent contractors to qualified marketplace contractors.
The new rule goes into effect on August 6, 2016.
