July 25 – Gov. Walker signed a law providing for voluntary preference for national guard members and veterans
On July 25, 2018, Governor Walker signed House Bill 2. The new law allows private employers to give hiring preferences to national guard members and veterans who were released discharged under honorable conditions from service.
The new law becomes effective on October 27, 2018.
July 17 – Gov. Walker signed a law banning smoking at most workplaces
On July 17, 2018, Governor Walker signed Senate Bill 63. The new law prohibits smoking in most indoor workplaces.
The new law becomes effective on October 1, 2018.

June 27 – Gov. Walker signed a law extending military leave and reemployment rights for National Guard members
On June 27, 2018, Governor Walker signed House Bill 3. The new law clarifies that state military leave and reemployment rights for National Guard members are available to employees who are members of the National Guards of other states, not just Alaska.
The new law becomes effective on September 21, 2018.
