March 1 – Gov. Martinez signed a law providing for a tax credit to those who hire foster youth
On March 1, 2018, Governor Martinez signed Senate Bill 231. The law allows employers to take a credit against their income tax liability of up to $1,000 for each qualified foster youth employed during the tax year.
Other requirements and limitation apply.
The new tax credit will be available for the taxable year beginning January 1, 2018.
March 1 – Santa Fe’s minimum wage increases to $11.40 per hour
On March 1, 2018, Santa Fe’s minimum wage increases to $11.40. The City increased the minimum wage based on its ordinance requiring annual increases based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Western Region for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers.
