WA: Eliminates the subminimum wage rate for employees with disabilities

August 1 All day

Washington Senate Bill 5284 (2021)

Beginning on August 1, 2023, Washington will not issue any new special certificates that allow employers to pay employees with disabilities less than the standard minimum wage.

Employers who have special certificates before August 1, 2023, may continue to pay employees with disabilities a subminimum wage until the certificate expires unless a special exception is granted by the State.
